Factually I don't think many participated in Track and technically yes they are better

Sure go look at any of their bios. They all ran track in high school and were really good. Any of one them could have gotten scholarships for track. Rapinoe, Press, etc they are all great mid distance runners.

If you look around on track forums USWNT members names come up from time to time and their unofficial times are very impressive. There is not a slow player on the USWNT. They chose soccer over track at an early age. Do not kid yourself, if a girls shows up at a u15 tryout with world class speed she will make the team. It’s high school soccer.

I think this one one (of many) ares US Soccer could greatly improve upon without too much effort.

I'd say many, if not most parents don't have a clue about soccer. That is changing a little as the sport becomes more popular in the US with adults, but still lags well behind knowledge of the other "top" sports. This allows some clubs and coaches to get away with a lot of teams when it comes to the education of the sport involving youth players.

My advice to every parent is if you care more than about having some fun and exercise, is to research your potential club and coach. Go to some practices and games BEFORE tryouts if possible.

To the poster I quoted - there are plenty of coaches that value both and I don't think it's 95% long ball, but it can certainly be better. I hope you find the right home for your daughter.
