I think two things here, OP:

First, your teenage son is suffering. He sounds angry and his anger is justified.

Second, I think it’s a mistake to teach children that police are friends. They are armed authority figures. Teach respect and a dose of fear.

Very poor parenting. Your kids are old enough to understand the nuance that there are bad cops and good cops. Have the conversation.

OP could also add to the conversation that there are good black people and bad black people, same as there are good white people and bad white people.

Behavior matters, not skin color.

So I have ran into 2 bad cops at least and this was the 2 times I had to deal with them. One time was 1 bad apple and the other time were at least 4. One decides what to do with you and the otehrs don't question the first person at all. The others are bad apples too if the 1st one makes a bad decision. Why can't they at least discuss and see if all think sitting on somebody's neck for 8 minutes is a good idea.
My first counter ended up with police letting me go and lying about my broken headlight. It wasn't broken- no need to lie just say you got the wrong car.
The 2nd time I called for help in DV situation and ended up in jail myself since ex-DH had somehow scratched himself while beating me. Wasn't my first time to report him.
Had I left the situation and reported later, he would've been the only one arrested. I was all black and blue underneath my clothes but nobody saw it until I was in jail.
How do you not check if it has happened before? How do you not check my body if I just told you I got beat up. Not all is on my face. Ended up in jail after years of being abused. Yes, I moved out and didn't even live with him anymore when he decided to attack me. I think cops are stupid. They have the right to take us both and had no reason to do their due diligence. It was almost as if they were in a hurry. Cops are not your friends- they make things worse and nobody expects it.

Teach your kids not to break the law and equally important don't associate/be friends with people who do either. Don't put yourself in situations where you are likely to have negative police interactions
