I also don’t really get the issue with why returned books can’t be segregated for a week prior to re-shelving. If the book bin is full, then you can’t return at that time. They can at least take some books. Full closures are okay for a period but at some point they need to figure these things out...I don’t think the Counties are going to continue to just pay peoole for doing nothing every day. The FY budget rolls over 7/1 and they are going to start to furlough, I’d bet.

what is ridiculous is that you have not bought a kindle (or a nook, or the indie version) already and checked out books from the library that way. yes, high demand, but the waitlist / hold system works well in our experience. and you can get kindle unlimited which has lots of kids books.
We prefer paper books in our household. I don’t believe in reading on screens.
Do you also not believe in people getting sick? You sound obnoxious, to be honest.
NP here! The brain does not absorb material written in electronic books as easily as physical books. They’re an acceptable option for adults and older children. Not babies, toddlers/pre schoolers or elementary children.

i know of one that drops the bag in your trunk. Another brings the bag and puts it on a table then walks away. Once they are away, you can get out of your car and pick up the bag. Neither are accepting returns at this time.Another has sets of 5 books pulled at random for ages or by subject, like a grab bag (I'm not sure how that one works for tracking what books you have)
Fairfax could certainly figure something out along these lines. It wouldn't be perfect, and it would be slower, and perhaps with how much criticism people in this area are quick to give out, the library is hesitant to even try. But i wish we could do something!
I totally agree. Fairfax is so lame.

So disappointed.
They are worse than the teachers! Full pay for literally no work. Why don’t they have to live in the real world with everyone else?
I've wondered if everyone is still full pay despite doing almost nothing (one librarian does 30min virtual storytime per week where we live).
If it's true I'm so jealous.
