I think sometimes parents/students forget that UVA will only take a certain number of kids from TJ, and that some of the kids at TJ have to be the bottom 80 percent of the class, despite all the students being stellar students going in.
Someone has posted the info here before that shows UVA admits over a hundred from TJ. Something like 70 attended. There’s no way they have a limit.

Indeed.
Your kid will be fine without UVA. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Why would a STEM student from TJ want to go to UVA?

For instate that does not sound right. Nobody with those stats has not gotten in as per our public HS naviance. UVA is not big on yield protection either. Not being snarky but since this is not your kid, is your friend upfront about the stats?

What signs? Dean J has repeatedly said mid-Feb, including in a comment she posted today on CC. It is also listed as mid-Feb on the website. Last two years are not a good indicator since there was no ED those years.
Also wondering this. I've been stalking all of Dean J's platforms and have seen no sign of a Jan 31 release. Wish it was so, but...
Wow, what a pretentious asshole thing to say.
