Another girl hated the culture and came to Bethesda and is doing great things and will be on team 1 soon.

FCGB from a parent perspective. This above quote is not true (mostly) although some of the above thread is and I dont think it is maliciously putting down FCGB. I do think it is not aware of the actual facts. The post I quoted above I am sure is referring to the 07 and not 08 team. We left the 07 2nd team at bsc with several other girls. All but one was a starter on that team. We joined an fcgb team where there were three former 07 ecnl 1 BSC girls. That team, with our additions, is quite good. We are not better than the ecnl 1 bsc team. We are heads and tails above our old 2nd team.
In the recent BSC tournament we were in the same bracket but not same side as our old team. That BSC ECNL 2 team didnt win a game on their side of the bracket. Our FCGB team won their side and then beat the winner of the BSC bracket fairly easily. Honestly, the two teams are not even close. That being said, the ECNL 1 BSC team is better. So FCGB is probably 5 to 10 in MD the BSC 1 team is in the top four and the BSC 2 team not in the top 15. I know less about the rest of the FCGB teams.
One positive thing about FCGB is a few of the 07 kids ( I think all of the former BSC 1 kids) are playing in a high level, upcoming showcase with the FCGB 06 team. I like they are able to play up if they earn it and hopefully we will be able to join them.
Where previous posts were correct is that FCGB does not field a team every year. Kids play up if able when there is not a team (08s have no team that I am aware of and there are a few 08s on the 07 team) It is a small club. I think they have to decide where to devote resources.
Coaches are excellent. Really talented actual soccer players. Former European pros. Made it a lot further professionally than any of the BSC girl coaches that I am aware of. It is a solid option in Montgomery County if, for whatever reason, your kid does not fit with BSC. I know a couple of the parents of the former BSC 1 girls. They left because they didn't like the coaches although, to be fair, I also would guess it went both ways. Sometimes kids and coaches just dont mesh. I d recommend FCGB if they have a team your year and, for whatever reason, you dont fit with the BSC ECNL coaches. For us, we felt we were just not given a fair shake to make that team. It is tough to move up at BSC. Far easier to go from outside the club. Couldnt be happier with where we are now but it is not a fit for all kids and very competitive.
Earlier posts in this thread mentioned members of the 06 team leaving at the end of last season. You mention 07s being asked to play up on the 06 team. Does that mean the 06s don’t have enough players? Its a little troubling to hear that the 08s don’t have enough girls to even field a team, and the 06s need to pull girls from the 07 team for games and tournaments. Is FCGB just a club with one full team - the 07s?

My daughter played against FCGB 2008 team in one of the tournaments. They were well coached. I cannot comment on how they compare to Bethesda team.
Must have been awhile ago since fcgb currently doesn't have a 2008 team. We were told last minute after tryout season that there would be no 2008 team which was very disappointing.

It is a warning sign when any club cannot even put together a single team at an age group. I am surprised to hear FCGB could not get enough girls to form an 08 team. What age groups even have a team at FCGB?
