Latina, not Italian, but we avoided names that had different pronunciations in English vs. Spanish for this reason when we knew we wanted a Spanish pronunciation. For this reason ended up naming our boy Javier instead of Xavier, since in English the X is frequently pronounced with a J sound.

Your kid will be forever correcting people if you name them a common name with an atypical pronunciation.
