Lovely. Nice to know that the school system is made up of a-holes who could care less what the citizens think. No accountability run amok.
You realize that was just some anonymous person on DCUM talking, not MCPS right?
I'm that PP.. what makes you think MCPS will do what parents want, especially when it comes to zoning? I was part of the RM ES#5 boundary discussions. There were *lots* of parents who told BOE what they wanted, but guess what, many of them didn't get their way.
When lots of people want lots of different things, not everyone will get their way.
Tbes families did not want tbes broken up but that doesn't mean they would not be happy with anotther hs. They would keep their title 1 status.

MCPS needs to avoid having kids cross major highways or major roads just to be bussed a school further away to meet MCPS diversity goals.
Good grief.
The few TB students in the walk zone to RM already cross a major road by foot (though many of them just walk east to Twinbrook Pkwy and other similar stops and take the bus to avoid that).

Oh no, I don't think MCPS will just do what parents want. Especially in a boundary study affecting multiple schools and/or clusters, what families at one ES think shouldn't be the determining factor. And I'm sure there is even some disagreement among parents within a school.

So? Have you looked at MCPS cluster maps? There are clusters where islands are created, where some neighborhoods have to take a bus to pass two under enrolled schools to get to an over enrolled school, some even walking distance.

Yes. Exactly as much chance as literally any other scenario.
the reason i ask is that while Wootton is at capacity and RM is over capacity, Fallsgrove is one of the higher SES commujnities that make up RM and I can't imagine that they would take it out of there? What neighborhood would replace Fallsgrove in RM cluster?
It would make more sense for TB to go to Wootton. Yes, it's closer to Wootton, but Fallsgrove is closer to Wootton, yet they are zoned for RM. Wootton FARMs rate is <5%.
Last week someone was all eager to reassign Twinbrook to Churchill. This week you're all eager to reassign Twinbrook to Wootton.
Students from Twinbrook are in the walk zone to Richard Montgomery. I understand that some people zoned for Richard Montgomery HS are eager to reassign Twinbrook to [a school that isn't Richard Montgomery], but really.
TB has bus service to RMHS. The bus can turn on Wootton Pkway straight to Wootton HS instead of going further north and turning on RM Drive. It would be an extra 5min.
People and MCPS are eager to spread out FARMs. This is a really good way to do it.
The parts of the Twinbrook ES service area farthest away from Richard Montgomery HS have bus service. Most of the service area does not and is within 2 miles of Richard Montgomery High School. Look at a map.

o
Cold Spring is practically in the Churchill district. It might get redistricted to Churchill, but otherwise there's zero chance it gets moved from Wootton.
Fallsmead ES capacity 551 enrollment 558
Meanwhile classes at Fallsmead have 28 students for every teacher no classroom help for teachers. No extra resources because of high SES.
