My DC loves their teachers this year for their extreme kindness and excellent teaching. DC is very contemplative about this situation since they believe the forehead kiss was paternalistic affection by a little, old man towards a kid who was losing it. DC is upset this teacher "lost" their job over a broken game of telephone.
I hope we find the truth since it seems there are two very different versions of this story going around.

If this is under investigation by the police, they may be forbidden from saying anything until the police file a public report. There is some sort of agreement between MCPS and MCPD about communications while things are investigated. Rumor I heard was that teacher and student were making out in hallway before school. If so, that is likely to be on camera. Hopefully the police will file charges soon and we will know what actually happened.
In the HALLWAY?
My dd said it was in a storage closet, but I kind of assumed that part was the rumor mill.

I’m the PP and I apologize. I’m sorry. I agree with you. I’ve posted here often expressing my frustration with how MCPS doesn’t do enough to keep kids safe from sexual predators.
I think as a parent, I’m so fed up and frustrated with MCPS! Hopefully this was just ‘making out’ in the hall and nothing worse.
I saw a talk a few years by Joshua Starr when he was Superintendent of MCPS. I know there are various opinions about him and I wasn't involved enough with MCPS at the time to have my own opinion. But I remember being shocked when he forcefully said two or three times that he "would never fire a teacher." He gave a dramatic pause each time he said it, and I kept waiting to hear some caveat such as "unless they are involved with criminal activity" or "unless they fail multiple chances to improve their teaching". But no, he left it as an absolute rule to never fire a teacher.
At the time I thought he might have been exaggerating to demonstrate his support for MCPS teachers. But now I am not so sure.
Please. I hesitate to even write this because I think it’s strange to be bringing up someone who left the system five years ago, but I worked with Dr. Starr closely when we he was superintendent, and I can assure you that you misunderstood his comments. We had several conversations about that exact issue. You may not want to hear this, but it’s the truth. I’d focus your energy on current decision makers though.

Damn you, Joshua Starr!!! Who has been gone from MCPS for 4 years now.
PP here. I didn't know much about MCPS when Starr was superintendent, so I'm not sure why you would say "Damn you"
But the attitude that he expressed in that speech still seems to be present in MCPS -- that you never fire a teacher no matter how outrageous their behavior.
