This is so stupid. If I were in that situation, I would understand that the parent is trying to distract and entertains bored child. I would not become so aggravated as to google “song with the most swear words” so I could blast cuss words at a child in a waiting room. Mom of toddler and I agree with this. Kids don't belong everywhere, and if you can't get yours to behave normally without screens with the volume up, you should stay home until you can.

Maybe you are too insecure to take your child places but I am not- restaurants, planes, trains, museums- my family loves to experience new things. Unless it’s a very fancy restaurant or a show where silence is required, my kid is part of the public and belongs in the public space just like you do.

Lol. I'm sure everyone enjoys listening to your kids watching TV loudly on their tablets in a museum. I think you misunderstand me. I too take my kid places, but I go to age appropriate places, so a family friendly restaurant with high chairs and coloring stuff provided versus somewhere fancy, museum with a play space we can use after we've looked at some things. Basically, I have normal expectations based on my kids age, and go places with him that makes sense, instead of taking him every single place I want to go and letting him watch movies all day on a tablet while I enjoy myself. It's called parenting.

Um, actually it IS bad parenting when a child is whining and a parent then hands them a device to shut them up. For a number of reasons.

Another option is to download videos talking about how Santa isn’t real and play with the sound on!

That's what parents who have whiny, screen zombie kids say.

Mine are 19, 17, 14, and 10 and all knew how to behave in public as young as two. Why? Because we taught them! When they misbehaved, we left and there were consequences for them. I've seen some 8 year old kids having meltdowns in restaurants because there was no WiFi to continue watching their YouTube vids. Newsflash, if your kid is over the age of two and can't sit still for 30 mins., you're failing as a parent.
