It doesn’t have a good reputation among the other private schools. Neither do some similar ones, so it’s not like people just randomly hate on Congressional. It seems to serve a particular population well, so good for them. It’s just not a school that some people would ever be willing to pay that much money for.

If they this year is a one off and they keep the classes small and deliver quality education, it is a good value.
I’m not saying $30K is a lot of money for private school. My kids are in another private school so I have no problem paying more than that for them. My point is that $30K is a lot of money for THAT school. Not all privates are equal.

I worked in admissions at a similar school in MD for a while. The running joke is that the best way to see how desperate a k-8 school is in a given year is to see how many 8th graders we admit. Usually it’s none but back during 2007 recession it was a handful, and it was necessary to keep us afloat.

If they this year is a one off and they keep the classes small and deliver quality education, it is a good value.

Per their website, Early Childhood (preschool) starts at $25,910 but when you get into elementary school the rates jump up.
Grades 2 - 4 $28,000
Grades 5 - 6 $29,720
Grades 7 - 8 $30,580

Personally, I like new teachers but some of the teachers only have bachelor's degrees though and I did think Congressional preferred masters level and above.

New family here. I'm sorry you feel that way. We would have been happy with any teacher -- new or not. I was thinking that any teacher new this year clearly wants to be there which is always a great sign.
Agree. The new teachers needed a job and chose to come. At the same time, teachers who left may not have had an option. It might not be that “they didn’t want to be there” but certain circumstances made it a risk or poor choice for them. We can’t judge families or teachers who opted out.

It might be helpful if you refer to the new students as an opportunity for your child to make new friends. Your wording makes you sound entitled.

You know new teachers might have good ideas. How entitled. Plus, lots of schools have new teachers because schools that opened in person didn’t have many options for teachers who wanted to remain virtual because of safety just like families did.
