Another "average student" here. DD has a 3.4 GPA and 1290 SAT. She has been accepted to 12 schools, deferred at 2 and 1 rejection. All solid schools, nice to have options.

Univ of Michigan, which is quite selective, is rolling.

They changed that about a decade ago when they went to the common app. They have an EA and RD deadline. They do notify RD applicants over a period of weeks just because of the volume of applicants but that’s not what rolling admissions is (rolling means you can apply at various points and hear within a certain period, like 4 weeks).

Not the PP you were asking, but my DS got into Fordham last year and received a Dean's Scholarship of $37K/year, with an additional $3K need-based grant. His stats were 1540 SAT (780M/760R), 3.9UW/4.5W, bunch of APs and all that other standard stuff.

He chose a different school. Good luck to your DS!

Ds admitted ED to Lehigh. And before you ask, no, he doesn’t want to be an engineer, and he’s not planning on going Greek. He absolutely loved the school and we are excited for him.

Don’t think it’s rolling. It has early action and regular decision. My kid got in early action and is very happy about it. Most peers at his school were deferred or denied. Not sure he will go but think it’s a great place. Loved our visit.

My DC got into Purdue and Ohio State this week. Waiting on financials and scholarships. Both for engineering.

He already got into Alabama, Pitt, and Ohio State all with substantial merit. As you can see he wanted big school and we prefer the merit packages since we can piggyback scholarships on them.

Still waiting on VT and UMD.

Merit was $25K I think. 37K total.

It used to be a top contender. A few things have changed though. Terrible food, extremely hard engineering course schedule compared to most other schools. Small percent of engineering students graduate in 4 years versus other schools she is looking into. The student who was shot last month in the stomach. Multiple visits have made the college less desirable vs more for some schools on her list. Abysmal school spirit. Cold dreary winters have been taxing on her older friends in NE colleges.

We shall see. It is a great school though.

Just told ds to check email. He was admitted to JMU. We are residents in DC, and ds attends Wilson.
Still need to hear from Univ of Louisville honors program. I think they will have the best merit aid package.
