Magnet programs do not belong to the school and they are just hosted there. Mostly the magnet students endure the long ride and the good/bad/medium state of the school facilities for the program.

MCPS can move the program anywhere they want. To buy homes next to magnet schools is really dumb, because the location is not set in stone.

It’s not a matter of moving students. It’s Montgomery county needing to basically fix up the east side to make it desirable to UMC families again.
At one time Kennedy was 65% white and a decent enough school.

How about they raize Glenmont. And all the endless low end apartments around there.
New houses. New stores. New residents. Make the area surrounding Kennedy nice. Get the house prices up.

Poor people in MoCo have to live somewhere. Glenmont is accessible to jobs in Rockville, Wheaton, SS, and DC. There are affordable stores (Kmart, Shoppers, a few thrift and dollar stores).

If you want to gentrify Glenmont, make the County set aside more affordable units in Metro accessible Western areas of the County.

This thread is pure fantasy fueled by magnet envy. The county faces many challenges like segregated boundaries, failed curriculum and a widening achievement gap. Meddling with one of its rare and successful programs at the most diverse school in the state isn’t on anyone’s radar.

Wheaton's base area is closer to Woodward than Einstein's.

They'd discussed shuffling the magnets after reworking the school boundaries to enhance diversity, but with most of Langley Park bussed to Wooton and Churchill, there will be plenty of room at Blair to expand the magnet.
