Did invites go out for high school teams yet?

B team club lax is far better than rec league teams. Team plays year round and typically has better coaching.The key for improving at lax is reps and time playing your position/handling stick and ball. Club teams (even B) typically provide that with year round practice and games. Also, higher level of play and competition. Find a club in your area and try out. If that doesn't work out, start with a good rec league in your area and progress from there.

Look for good coaching. If Next Level is the closest club team for you in terms of practices, then try out for the B team. Otherwise, stick with the club that is closest to your home until it's apparent your kid loves lax and is begging to play at a higher level.

Our son is new to lacrosse, later to start, so not enough experience to try out for an A team. For those with more lax knowledge than we have, is it really true that a B team is a waste of time and no different than a Rec team? what should we be looking at in deciding between a B team v Rec? Any recommendations for Rec teams? Thanks.

Certainly if you are driving more than 20 minutes to play. Otherwise, play lots of rec (or close by B leagues) and clinics.

Wow. Thanks for the info. I thought the PG teams were essentially the B teams. From the website, it doesn't look like they will have the same opportunities to play in the elite tournaments.

Poor Cabel, are you getting a little nervous knowing the new kid has pulled even and is pulling ahead because they are better run with better reputations? The web site doesn't say that at all. The PG club never played in those tournaments but now at least they have a chance and will have more opportunities as the club stabilizes. That's a little different than re-branding a dying club's team and kicking your own teams to the curb. How'd that work out for this year's tryouts? I'm sure that made the parents happy.

Not a new B team, just more kids at tryouts this year due to increased popularity (from their A team's semifinal level achievement at WSYL). Last year they didn't have enough kids to fill two teams, this year they did. That simple. They managed to convince multiple players from other clubs to come over and fill their brand new B team with new young coaches. Seems like lax kids are always chasing the new shiny penny.

What is the name of the PG club that they’re merging with? Does that club have an A team or does that A team basically become the Next Level B team? Where will practices be? I wish we had known about the new B team, our son is newer to lax and was looking to try out for a good B team. I did not see it on the website. Will follow this thread and pay more attention for next year.

I'm sure that's why they did the tournament. To increase interest in their program. What about the 2024s? I wonder if any of them would be willing to drop back to the PG team. They have a star coach in Isaiah Davis Allen.

Possibly some kids came from their PG merger, but they also lured players from other clubs to their new B team (that they couldn't fill last year). Amazing what an A team semifinal success at a well publicized tournament will do for you.

I thought they had more players for the B team because of the PG merger.
