So true for me...but birth control is going to mute it so get off the birth control and make your husband get a vasectomy.

Good for you all ladies in your 40s with healthy libidos.

My DW, sadly (42) has a very low libido. And although she has willingly kept up with my healthy libido, things are stalling big time for her. Never initiates, never masturbates, etc.

I am 42. For the past couple years I have noticed an increase in my sex drive. Dh has always been high drive but I think I may have surpassed him. I hope he doesn’t slow down as this horny feeling is all consuming.

51 year old wife. No loss on my part either, although exhaustion from lack of sleep (perimenopause) puts a damper on it. But it’s not a physiological reduction yet.

Do you have children? If so were you younger or older when you had them?

Four kids. Youngest is 12.

Off topic, but your husband was 46 when he had a newborn? I can't imagine. I get tired just looking at pictures of myself during the years when I had a newborn running around -- and I was in my early 30s!

My DH is in his mid-60's and if he has too much to drink (not drunk!) he too has trouble getting an orgasm. He had a little too much wine last night and while his stamina was amazing he wasn't able to finish before he wore me out. I'm certainly not complaining because I had two O's but I was disappointed for him.

It is also when men start giving up effort due to feeling secure that their wives won’t leave because “who wants a woman that age.”

I'm 48. I had a tubal ligation and an ablation about two years ago. I feel great. I've always enjoyed and wanted sex. Now, I have no periods, and I know there is zero chance of getting pregnant.

I still fear diseases, though, and I crave the intimacy and the love of a long-term relationship and monogamous relationship.

It's unfortunate that so many men let themselves go, that there are so many pot-bellies and flabby or weak arms on men.

And then when men age, they will sometimes insult women their age about our looks, blaming our looks for their erectile dysfunction.

To answer your question, yes, I have more freedom and more sexual desire. I would prefer a man my own age, who is reasonably fit and attractive, and who is secure enough is his body to not put down my body.

Sounds fun!

40 DW and the last one year my libido has really gone super high. Unfortunately my DH is resisting adventure and is so poor in foreplay. We have it 2* a week. I wish it was more but I can’t tell him bcoz we have some emotional distance. I wish he could get out and dirty with me but he is in his comfort zone. Meanwhile I mastubate occasionally to cool off.
