Somehow that doesn't make me feel better. Just shows that being an antisemite is fine and dandy, and it will be emphasized that he's being fired because of campaign finance laws, and nothing to do with his bigotry against Jews. The message is: dump all the shit you want on Jews, and you'll be OK.
That said, I'm glad he's toast.

How long have you lived in "Dee-Cee"? The disbursement from the constituent service fund will result in a slap on the wrist at most. The more that the Post, Jewish organizations, others are 'on his ass', the more Trayon's base will see him as standing up to the Man. We've seen this playbook run in Ward 8 before.

Who says one has to INTEND to be antisemtitic in order to BE antisemtitc? There are plenty of people who think less of black people, as an entire group. They don't necessarily intend to....they just do. And that makes them racist.
It's sad the degree to which some liberals on this forum twist them into pretzels because they can't face that Democrats, whom they consider so superior, could actually be antisemites. And so the excuses start. Either the guy is an idiotic. Or he's just ignorant. Or he is insensitive to antisemtism but not an actual antisemite. And now, he didn't INTEND to be antisemtitic.
The next time someone makes a bigoted remark against blacks, Muslims, whatever, I am going to defend him by insisting he is not prejudiced.....just that he ignorant or insensitive. Or that the struggle of blacks or Muslims isn't "his struggle." Or that he is just stupid. But racist? Naaaah.

Says who ?
DP. Antisemite Farrakhan was a featured, if not the primary, speaker at Barry's funeral. It is high time all black Democrats - be they city councilmen or U.S. Congresspeople - dissociate themselves from one of the country's most virulent antisemites. What would be the reaction if David Duke speaks at Trump's funeral?? (Or if he donated public funds to David Duke's organization?)
And this crap about....."he's not perfect but he's been good for the black community" is antisemtitic. The message that advocating that Jews are the enemy and practice a gutter religion (and you call Trump Hitler?) isn't all that terrible as long as he's good for black people is saying that antisemitisim is acceptable at best, or tacit agreement at worst. And then, complaints about it go along the lines of "those Jews are too sensitive."

Actually, I support this tweet. The second half does scold him, and basically says what White has done so far isn't good enough. Todd says to give him another chance. OK, that's fine, but he needs to do something to demonstrate that he actually gets it, gets why anti-semitism, even unintended anti-semitism, even anti-semitism that has nothing to do with the community to work for, is a big damn deal. So far he has not. I think Todd's tweet acknowledges that.
Leaving aside the anti-Semitism associated with the NOI, White spent money from his constituent services fund -- money that is suppose to help his constituents -- on an event held in Chicago. His ward is the poorest in DC and the residents there need the money a lot more than Farrakhan does. I think Todd falls short by not addressing the potential illegality or the clear impropriety of that expenditure.
