Typically schools provide an average of 50% tuition remission for faculty.. what about additional financial aid? For schools like Potomac, Flint Hill, GT-Day? etc..

On another note, would anyone know some k-12 private schools (or 6-12) in the DC / VA area that have great / large campuses / athletic facilities?

Unfortunately, the teaching pool is very weak these days and salaries aren't the most attractive. So if someone is willing to teach (hopefully well) only for as long as their child is there, then that's actually a decent tenure. Also, teachers with children at the school tend to care more about ensuring that the school is a good place to be. It's the dinosaurs who hold on with zero connection but the paycheck because they can't get a job elsewhere, that are the biggest threats.

Currently 50%. Approximately 5 year wait to enroll a faculty child. Seems to vary based on tenure and other unknowns.

The private jk-12 school that I taught at gave 50% tuition remission, but I would say that only 30-40% of employees had their kids at the school. For many, myself included, the cost of tuition even w the 50% reduction is just not within tbr realm of possibility unless your partner is a high earner or you have some sort of help from grandparents or something. I loved my school, but it did make me sad that I wouldn’t be able to afford to send my own kids there.


Of course not, no one actually wants their kids mixing with their kids. Besides, even with 50% remission, no one on the landscape crew is paying for Sidwell.

For “tuition.” Don’t know who is telling the truth, online forum or unreliable friend?


"Bilking" her own family? Who cares! I have mad respect that they can pull this off.
