As a parent considering the school, would you say that those who cannot do this are left out socially or otherwise? I mean, we would be full pay, but really just barely. There is no way we'd be throwing $10k around.
Not that I'm well versed in typical construction costs around here, but $70m seems an awful lot for a gym.
You'll be fine. For every Ted Leonsis - whom I have come across in work, charity events and their lovely children - there are families like you.
I am grateful for the donors - heavy hitters in tech, A&D, investment mgmt. Wouldn't blink to invite them over to my tiny colonial (except they are very busy working, running companies).
Great school, work hard culture, open minded, sweet kids. I guess in contrast to some of the DC super liberal schools with a preference for the community activist and academic elite, here you just might get a dose of capitalism and entrepreneurialism. (GASP!)
It's so amusing that people send their kids to schools like the Potomac hoping they can secure a place in one of the Ivy bastions of the "academic elite", but at the same time trash the same academic elite as antithetical to their "values" of capitalism and entrepreneurship and want nothing to do with them! If you have such low opinion of them, stay away from their places of work and don't brag about the colleges your kids go to (newsflash: they were created by the despised academic elite). Or better yet, have your kids study at the "University of Life" instead and see how successful they become as capitalists and entrepreneurs... Better not get sick though, because some the same "academic elite" might (God forbid) try some of their cockameme innovations on you to save your life!
What inventions, collectively, have come out of Gender Studies, Peace Studies, and Critical Theory?

Live in the vicinity, with no traffic Potomac is 17 minutes, and no way it ever takes an hour. Maybe 35-40 minutes, tops--the biggest bottleneck is at the entrance to the Beltway, and Potomac is before that.

Really? How close is the Potomac School to Crystal City?
Straight shot up gw parkway. But all the top schools in the DC are just as close. Some closer
I mean, how long (time wise) is the commute?
