Why didn’t you go to the other party, especially after they called and said they still wanted to see you? You bailed on them. Why not spend time with people who want to be friends with you, and don’t spend time worrying about neighbors who don’t value your friendship they way you thought they did? Missed opportunity here.

Munch favorite NYEs are at home with indulgent things. Sometimes just a couple of close friends, sometimes just us. I think op handled it fine, but in this instance I would have gone to the other party. Agree w no overlap if you do host your own gathering next year.

I think OP handled this as well as anyone could have.

If you are having a party next NYE - make it an intimate gathering with no overlap of neighbor’s guests.

I hope it was an oversight, a mis-sent evite, some explaination. But ghosting/crumbing stinks.

OP, I’m still co fused about why you didn’t go to the party that you WERE invited to, and why it is that you are pinning your social status on the neighbours (social pariahs, really?)

You weren’t sitting st home with nothing to do.. you chose to be home, sulking about the neighbours, despite the other people calling you to check in.

Don't throw your own party next year. Everyone will still go to the other party and you will look like losers. Your first step should be to understand why you weren't invited this year. Maybe there's something about you that is off-putting and you will eventually lose more friends.
