They could always sit still, pay attention and listen intently to teachers and coaches. Both could concentrate at tasks.
Most ADHD kids I know were given constant access to iPads, iPhones, video games and TV from a young age. Dinner out? Here’s my iPhone. Car trip? Watch movies or play on phone non-stop. It’s creating socially f-caked up kids that can’t self modulate or sit still.

A lot of really desperate suicidal kids who are actively hiding depression, serious suicidal through, self harm behaviors, etc. because mental illness is taboo. And hiding it from the school, which has to nntofy parents about serious mental health crises. They want help, and need help and can’t get it. And don’t take my word for it. Read their stories.
So yeah- if your culture says that having a mental illness shameful, you don’t necessarily get fewer kids with mental illness. You get more untreated mental illness.

From what I can tell, this is an American problem. You never hear of people from other continents and cultures complaining their kid has ADHD and MUST be put on meds to function in life. That is strictly an American thing, and very sad. Makes you wonder how cave people functioned back in the day, since they didn't have shrinks and do tors to dole out false diagnoses and get them addicted to legal drugs.
We are Germans here for 4 years with our children for my husbands job. This is absolutly not a thing in Germany. It has been so shocking to see how many kids are on drugs here for basically bad behavior. The standard for behavior for German children, our expectations for independence and organization is so different from Americans. If an American kid is not maturing, not listening, not getting good grades, out dispensed the drugs and thearapy. In Germany, the parents are the leaders, German kids are expected to fall in line and most do. I clearly see why there are so many social problems, so much drug addiction, and so much violence here. I mever unserstood it, until i saw with my eyeshow "sick" everyone is.
This country has a lot to offer, but Im very grateful that i dont have to raise my kids here. So, definitly not normal for kids in Germany to he diagnosed with ADHD and then given glorified street drugs.
Oh, now we hear from a lady from the country that kicks kids out of high school and I to a vocational track if they don't toe the line. Thanks, but no.
What does this have to do with adhd diagnosis?
Anonymous wrote:How did this discussion turn into cultural wars and racism? ADHD can be a heartbreaking condition for children and their parents. I don't care what country you are from or how little or often it is diagnosed or who thinks they are the better parent-- I see kids in the waiting room when I take my son to therapy- families of origin from everywhere. Kids with learning disabilities, ASD, ADHD. We have friends from India whose son has a lifelong cognitive disability- he will always be cared for by his parents. I have never seen a more loving, affectionate, beautiful family. They adore him and will always care for him.

He was basically unable to sit through class and starting to suffer a lot of anxiety and depression in school. As he's matured, the meds have mattered less. At this point as a high school sophomore taking lots of AP classes and no longer taking meds.
This tells me your son didn't have adhd. It was just immaturity. Seems like you drugged him just to make life easier. I get it, but it doesn't seem like he has adhd. I have a 12 yr old DS, and he was pretty challenging at 7, too. But, he doesn't have adhd. He was just a boy full of energy and lots of things going around his head, like most 7 yr olds.
This tells me that you're an idiot. If you knew anything g about ADHD you would realiza that it's completely normal for some kids to outgrow it as their brain develops. There is actually a huge long term study going on at NIH right now to study this that involves imaging kids' brains. Guess what dumbass: kids with ADHD can be distinguished through brain imaging.
Christ, you're stupid.
For f@ck's sake, crack a book before you embarrass yourself.

My friend from India says the same thing. She is appalled by the number of dumb kids and high school dropouts here in America, and the school issues with students that act out. She said they just didn't have those problems where she comes from in India.
It's very interesting to see how the rest of the world views our country. Very eye opening.
And now education advice from a country that's 26% illiterate and where women are stoned to death for being taped. Awesome!
Yea, India, the same country that is giving Americans many of their doctors and stem workers because the native population is incapable of that work.
The US could not even produce a native surgeon general. Had to get one from that "illiterate" country. I bet a native born and raised American cleans Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy's toilets.

Ever since my son started daycare when he was 2, teachers have noticed that he is high energy, can’t sit still, talks out of turn, etc. We had him tested in grade 2, and he is just a high energy kid. He is now 12, in grade 7 and monitors his behaviour better. He is a hands on learner who is bored with many of the teaching strategies, and topics. He has an extreme interest in science and space and knows more than his academic sister, who is 4 years older than him. Honestly, after having 2 daughters who fit the mold of the ideal student, I can see where the public school system can be difficult for kids who learn in different ways.

I’m an American and have lived here my whole life. I 100% agree with you on this. Actually, there are many of us who also agree with you, but would never say so in public because the drugs are so prevalent and many of our friends’ kids are on them. Americans who state views similar to yours are called ignorant and degraded.
May I ask why you think this is so prevalent in the US? What do you attribute it to?
