It does kind of suck because I bought my house to be zoned to Henry specifically. I know there’s never a guarantee, but that argument seems to hold up in N. Arlington if you’re vocal enough about it.

I don't know if you noticed, but the Jefferson boundary extends N of 50. Fleet is being built ON THAT SAME SITE. During the working group, APS staff clearly showed that Long Branch and the new school would have overlapping walk zones, and said that if this location was chosen, it could pull from both sides of 50 to help with overcrowding in both N and S. With the pedestrian bridge right there, it's not crazy to think that kids on either side of 50 could go to either school. We'll have to see, but if history is any indication, whatever path is most beneficial to those N of 50 will be what they decide to do.

I think that at most they will pull some kids from longbranch to relieve overcrowding there. As an earlier person pointed out though, they can only really pull in at most 50 kids without putting the new school at over capacity at opening though.


That's assuming all areas currently zoned to Henry will be zoned to Fleet. Since the physical location of the school is moving, I don't think that's a given. Especially not with the fetish staff and the SB have with walkability. If the primary goal is boundaries is proximity and efficiency, there will be shifts. Be prepared.

Actually, Arlington Village (part of the area that is currently zoned for Henry, but it south of Columbia Pike) is 1.0 miles from Drew and 1.5 miles from Jefferson Middle school. I'm sure we are getting zoned out of Henry, even if they won't admit it yet.


This is a pretty safe bet. I think anything S of the Pike gets moved out of Fleet, because kids can't cross the Pike and they want to reduce buses/shorten bus routes.


Yeah I’m the PP who asked - I’m not in Arlington Village but really close to it.

Why? Crossing the Pike at S Barton is easier and safer than crossing Walter Reed and Glebe? Not saying either is a better option but to say crossing The Pike is the reason why doesn’t make sense.

Yeah I can’t figure it out...Henry is pretty close now despite being on the other side of the Pike but I keep hearing I’m in the area “pegged” for rezone since it’s moving north. We’ll see, I guess...
