No - we are upset about the deaths ... and it seems it was a worse set up than Benghazi ... BUT as rational people, we are awaiting more information before rushing to judgment on that issue.

Trump's idiocy and inappropriate behavior in responding to the family is plain and simple to understand now.

That is nice. I feel just terrible for this family. I am so embarrassed that we have an idiot for a President! Nice job America!!

You guys are terribly upset that Trump was insensitive in conveying his condolences; yet you don't seem to be upset at all about the man's death.

Your priorities are pretty screwed up.

? Who is the CiC? Who sends the military to conflict zones? People can be upset by both - deaths as well as this moron's insensitive remarks.

The comment they made was appropriate.... these conversations are private.
As a parent of a soldier, I would be furious if a Congress person made public the call made to me by the CIC if my son were KIA.

Oh, goodie, Marine Mom is back to barf up more support for a Russian elected stooge.

Send your son some of your comments, will you?

Not that hard. And I'm no word smith either.

I can't believe that, with all of Trump's HUGE screw ups, the resistance is reduced to whining about his imperfect word choice when consoling a widow. It makes me fear his odds of winning reelection are pretty high.

Because this one feels oddly personal. A slight so small yet so devious.

From the party who has pretended to patriotic for decades come excuses for a CiC* who can't perform the bare minimum with even a crumb of grace.

Because "he knew what he signed up for" is akin to blaming the deceased, a man who did in fact "give all" in service to his country.

Because flouting convention - AGAIN - and not bothering to have his staff liaise with the family and instead calling at a time when I think most of us would be at our weakest is criminally cruel. I don't know about you, but I regard the time before the funeral as one of the worst times of my life. And that POS called her on the way there. Then insulted him.

Because that fat cluck was GOLFING AGAIN when the bodies came back.

Because that dotard pretended to be upset with the NFL players for kneeling when in reality he cares not one whit for the country.

Because he's a low piece of trash, and this is such a personal blow.

Well that was the message he was trying to convey. They spoke for 5 minutes. The purpose of the call was to offer condolences.

How do you know that was what he was trying to convey? That is not what he said, at all. He is a native English speaker.

First PP here... I agree, that's not the message I hear from those words. What I hear is, "well, he did know what he was signing up for, so you must've knew it could happen, right... but I GUESS it still hurts". He GUESSES? Because he's never known a loss like this widow, or he just has zero sympathy.

Word choices matter. Again, if Obama said something like this at a policeman's funeral, what would be the reaction from Trumpsters? You people who are defending Trump are really reaching. But I GUESS you have to keep defending your bad choices otherwise you would have to admit that your choice was a bad one.

People need to face the fact that, IMO, he exhibits some form of dementia... he sounds like my MIL when she is on a bad day. Sort of stringing words together but basically incoherent (or inappropriate) if you seek substance from the communication.

Shitting on a grieving widow is a HUGE screw up IMO. Your criteria might be different.

I can't believe ANYONE would excuse this from the President and Commander in Chief.

So sad.

Could you even imagine a year ago a situation where a congresswoman wants to curse out the president for the way he treated a pregnant gold star widow who was just informed her husband's body is not fit for an open casket funeral?
