36, work right around 40hrs/week, rarely nights or weekend. $145K + bonus. Gross this year will be slightly over $160k. I'm a trade association lobbyist.

34, partner at a small law firm, work anywhere from 40-50 hours a week, completely on my own schedule/at client demands. Rarely work weekends, but I do sometimes work after my kid goes to sleep.

I'll make around 250K this year.

yeah I could make more elsewhere but I telework 3 days a week and the days I am there I "work" 9-4ish with an hour lunch

105k as a consultant for 20hrs of work / week.

I set my own schedule generally, but days can differ from 2 hours to 8 hours.

mid 30s M, DC real estate, set my own schedule so it's hard to say how many hours i work. if you count industry-related reading and networking it's probably 60 hrs/wk. some days i cut out at 3 in the afternoon, sometimes i work until 9.

worst recent year 100k, best year 350k.

I an 42, no set hours but have to pay attention to breaking news whenever I am awake. I do policy/lobbying for one org. 200k

I very much respect teachers but also it IS important to point out you mean 50 hours/week, plus about 10 weeks of vacation a year, correct? That in itself probably gives a good (15%?) salary bump above the standard 2-4 weeks.


The OP never asked for the # of weeks of vacation. I'm another teacher, but if you want to bring up vacation time, most of us teachers get closer to 15 weeks of vacation time. 9-10 weeks in the summer, 2 weeks in winter, a week in the spring and then about 8-10 holidays. The pay is only okay and the hours, when not on vacation suck (I put in 60-65 hours a week), but the vacation time is great. I just wish it was more spread out!
