The strip clubs in Glover do give it some of that gritty urban vibe.
they sure do keep people like you away! Anonymous wrote:I’m late to this party but I’d buy in ludlow taylor, jo Wilson or Watkins. I love Capitol Hill. It’s my favorite area of the city. We have friends IB for all three schools and they all have said good things.
I always see on here people say “don’t buy Capitol Hill because of middle school”. Well not everyone can afford a space that fits their needs WOTP, me included. There are a lot of families on the hill that make it work.
Anonymous wrote:lizziewhit wrote:Why would someone say "Yuck" to Cleveland Park? I don't want to spin my wheels there if its truly that bad.
Because Cleveland Park is a historically affluent neighborhood, very bourgeois, and somewhat sleepy and not exactly up an coming today. Some people resent that and think it's not cool.
I like Cleveland Park, but one thing that would bother me about it is that there is a very high proportion of kids in private school. You'll find more of a neighborhood school community feeling in a place like AU Park, where most kids go to Janney these days.

I don't know what this has to do with republicans, but PP very indirectly raised a valid point.
Parts of D.C. are no less urban than the inner suburbs. For example, I think AU Park makes a ton of sense for you. But it is no more, and in some ways is less, urban than downtown Bethesda.
That could mean you won't like AU Park, or it could mean you should also look at Bethesda.

There are 7 to 14 million dollar homes within a block of 1.2 million dollar homes. Parks, art galleries stores and restaurants all within a few blocks. You can drive over to Virginia in 5 minutes. Little Folks and St. Johns nursery schools are among the very best in DC. French Maternal School, Georgetown Hospital and more. Yes, many of the Georgetown kids attend private schools.
Yuck. Native Washingtonian, we don't really consider Georgetown part of Washington. It's like an "add on"

Are you the same poster who said "yuck" to Cleveland Park?![]()
Nope, just Georgetown.
Georgetown isn't really part of Washington. It was its own town before DC was created. So you are correct. But likely offering advice about a place you never lived with children. If you read this boards section on preschools you will be able to assess Georgetown and other neighborhood's preschools. There are 3 bedroom townhouses in Georgetown within OPs budget. It is a different style of life, akin to Capitol Hill in some ways.
Anonymous wrote:OP what do you consider urban ... coming from Dallas your perspective will be very different. Unfortunately your budget isn't going to get you much in the very best neighborhoods.
