Arlington, for example, spends $19k per student per year. A typical illegal may have 2-3 kids in the school system. If the illegal had all three here (anchor babies) then k-12 for all three costs the citizens $741k. Add to that the free lunches, the free care in emergency rooms, the cost of medical to deliver the three kids, and on and on. Does this minimum wage earner who may very well pay taxes ever make a dent in the cost shouldered by the American tax payers. Not even close.

Because those children are US citizens, like it or not. They are just as American as any other natural-born citizen. That's who we are: a nation of immigrants, some more recent than others.

Where is this? The federal government isn't paying for anyone's braces. Not aware of any states that offer this but no one has posted this information. Is it possible that a private charity paid for the braces you witnessed on your students ' teeth?
