With gerrymandering, demographic concentration, etc, there are LOTS of House districts that the GOP won by 6% or less. Enough to flip the House. In the sequence of special elections this year, the Dem shift has been, you guessed it, 5 to 7%. And the Dem advantage on the generic ballot question.

Kind of off-topic, but the Democrats have out-performed the generic ballot in the special elections.

I think that depends on how you calculate the general ballot moving average. From what I recall of my reading of 538, the special election outcomes have been largely in line with the generic ballot polls, but I may be misremembering
