In France they have horseback riding on the beaches, sailing and other water sports. The farmer's markets are sometimes blocks away. Depends on the beach.

I'm with OP. Hate the beach. So boring just sitting around. When we vacation, we like to explore new cities, sightsee, enjoy local culture, food, etc.

I've been to beaches from Mexico, both coasts of USA (every coastal state) and Canada. Also Michigan Great Lakes, Gulf of Mexico and the cheasepeake bay and many other smaller lakes in between, France, Italy and some other places on the Mediterranean. They are all boring after a day or two.


The beaches are not boring. You are bored at those beaches.

Because when I am at home there is always something needing to be done. At the beach I can sit and read. For as long as I want. It can be good family time also.

We don't stay the whole day. We only take one beach bag with towels and sunscreen. We swim in the waves for about an hour and then rest for about 15 minutes then repeat and leave. I couldn't spend the whole day like a lot of people do. And the people who take lunch and eat out there seems crazy to me.

Maybe you're going to the wrong beaches, OP. Have you tried Turks and Caicos, Bali, or Amalfi Coast?
