First marriage is usually the true love.
Oh that's not true. Most first marriages were mistakes...why so many divorces. If that was true love he wouldn't have gotten married again, lol.
Second marriages have HIGHER divorce rates.
Doesn't mean the first one wasn't a mistake, usually born out of immaturity
I know two people whose spouses died while married. Neither were over the moon with them. In fact, I know it was a burden that was lifted. Both re-married and are much happier.

If it were a companion they wouldn't have gotten married. It's obviously about love. No matter what you expect 9 time out of 10 they are going to be buried together, or make some other plans. It probably bothers the kids but that spouse has long moved on in most cases.

A lot of first marriages were mistakes and miserable. My friend had two small kids. She was hoping to divorce her husband at some point. He ended up getting Colon cancer and died within a year. She got re-married 2 years later to a great guy. Believe me she doesn't give a hoot about the first one.

I think people tend to be a bit more rational about life and death when they remarry at a later age after their spouse passes. It's more of a "companion to live out my days with" than some great eternal love/soulmate situation.
I'd expect the husband to be buried next to his first wife because his children would be most content being able to visit them together.

We're not talking about those divorced 2nd marriage. If it was a successful 2nd marriage he's going to want to make those plans with her. A lot of creative kiddies out there.
