Exactly !
Two years ago, my son did his HGT test and got into Cold Spring Wait Pool (it was endless wait). We thought he could have made it based on his school report card, MAP scores but he did not.
This year, he did the test very well and got into TPMS.
Encourage them to take new challenges whenever available,

He said he was personally calling all parents to make sure they had proper notice for the open house. Sure is a nice way to start anew and speaks to me of his dedication and desire to build community! A great first impression and I don't think other principals of HGC's made the calls in talking to friends across the county! Can't wait to meet him and see the school!
What is your home school?

I'm heartbroken and honestly flabbergasted. He scored 232 on his 2nd grade MAP-P test - I was told it was the highest the school had seen for 2nd grade. His 3rd grade teachers told me he fit the definition of what they consider a truly gifted child.
Not sure if we will appeal or not.
Good luck to everyone else who is waiting on their decisions today.
What were his Inview scores. Just curious and if you don't feel like sharing that's fine.
Happy to share (it's all anonymous here, right!): His Inview scores were Analogies: 90; Sequencing: 99; Quantitative Reasoning: 98; Verbal Reasoning Context: 99; Verbal Reasoning Words: 85
His 3rd grade teacher just reported to me that his MAP-R scores this year were 214 and 232

All I can say to the parents who received rejection letters today is to keep your spirits high, and your child's spirit even higher. They are only 8 and 9 year olds and the world is their oyster at this point. This one decision from a county that keeps their decision parameters vague should not determine your child's long road ahead.
Absolutely true
Home school has a lot of kids under a lot of parental pressure to get in, complete with test prep.
A lot of perspective and calm is called for here.
