OP here. Week 3 update.

Weight lost: 1.3 lb
Total: 8.7 lb

I'm a little disappointed with my loss this week, but I could have been more careful with my carbs. My body seems to have adjusted to the full phen pill. I'm not anxious or irritated any longer, although I'm still pretty exhausted. Although that could also be due to the nights I stayed up working until the wee smas.

I'm also about to get my period (sorry if TMI), so I guess this would have been the week I gained a pound anyway.

Can someone tell me how much he charges? Thanks. (Kinda poor, fat mom)

There a couple of posts, with prices. I was $170 for two months, both pills. Doesn't take insurance. I may save the $170 just from how little I'm eating so not needing to spend on food.

I saw him this week. Somewhat guy but also really knowledgeable. He has a 30 discussion where he is basically just giving a speech about the lies we have been told about weight loss. He makes logical sense, I hope to see results! He does also. Relieve in weighing daily.

I swear my metabolism works when I'm pregnant. I'm 10 months pp. I lost 10 lbs in first trimester, then only gained 15 lbs. Lost it all then gained it after 2-3 weeks (while still breastfeeding). I swear I'd pay anything just for a normal functioning metabolism so I can lose it with diet and exercise. I have 50 lbs to lose.

So this is exactly my situation. I was able to control my appetite down to 1200-1400 but still couldnt drop lbs. Finally saw an endocrinologist and was dx with Hashimotos. Now, with the combo of thyroid meds and the Phentermine (not the phen pro) I am able to get by on 800 cal per day. The weight still comes off me slower than other folks--at 800 or fewer calories per day I still only drop about a pound per week, but at least it is finally starting to come off.

I'm on day 4 and doing well so far. I'm actually a bit nervous to switch to the full pill this weekend. Am considering staying with half, but I do want to get the full benefit of doing this, and i know that it is supposed to wear off, so trying to decide. I do feel the 1/2 and am just worried about getting too jittery or stronger side effects. So far I definitely feel them, but they're mild.

To me, PP, this sounds like your thyroid needs to be stabilized as close to optimal as possible (TSH, T3, T4). TSH 1 ish, etc

Thanks. My TSH is always at or right below 1.0 with my current Synthroid.

T3 and T4 are important, too. I've had a T4 spike in the past that caused abrupt weight gain.

If it's not that, then maybe try what I'm trying: severely reduced carbs. I've seen my mother need to basically eat air and water to lose weight, so I'm in the restricted diet camp for sure.

I took phen for years when you could buy it easily off the Internet, but those days are long gone. I wish I had known about Dr. Anchors 5 years ago when I suddenly gained 50 pounds. However, my Dr just recently gave me a prescription for phentermine and topamax. He is a huge believer in taking both of them -- phen in the morning and topamax at night. Separate prescriptions, not the combo drug, because it is very expensive and doesn't have as much phen in it. He gave me a prescription for 90 pills and I used the Good Rx app and got it filled at Safeway for $16. That was the good news. I couldn't believe when I started taking it that it didn't do anything for me since I had not taken it in years and it used to be like a miracle drug. However, some googling reveals that the same companies that made the generics several years ago are no longer making them and the new ones are not as potent and truly hit or miss. I got another prescription filled at a different pharmacy and got generics from 2 different companies -- the pills are similar looking but have different imprints. I have not taken the topamax since you are suppose to take at night bc it makes you sleepy, but I'm going to give up the wine and start taking it. It's suppose to make a huge difference.

Check out the Good Rx app. It's free and it has saved me a ton of money since my Dr told me about a year ago.

Also, there is a wacky Dr. Branch, who used to prescribe phen and Prozac over the Internet before it was a widely known thing. After the laws changed, that part got shut down, but he has drs in several locations you can go to for the initial visit and then he does the follow ups online. He's based in Dallas. I haven't done this, but I still get his crazy emails, so I wanted to throw that out there for others who can't find anyone to prescribe it. I did use him many, many years ago when he just called in the prescriptions to your local pharmacy.

Anonymous wrote:So, I've been doing the 1/2 dose since Friday 3/17. Started at 163.2 at 159.2 this morning. I have been much more careful about when I am eating, probably more than what I am eating. Little things like nothing even sweet tasting (even no-calorie drinks) unless with a meal, then it might be two sips of a soft drink or a bite of an apple fritter. No snacking, even healthy things like nuts. Cut out my 2-3 cups a day of coffee, much easier than I had expected. I always drink a lot of water.

I'm taking both pills around 9am. The hunger and cravings for food do seem to be much more diminished. I do still get a little hungry, or maybe it is just cravings, in the evenings. Start thinking I should have some potato chips but after drinking some water decide that I don't really want them.

No negative side effects, but I am only on 1/2 dose. Not sure if it has affected my sleeping since that was always a little sketchy. I am waking up about 45-60 minutes earlier but am not tired. maybe a little less regular bowel movements, but that could be attributed to eating less food. No acne, knock on wood.

yes, Dr. Anchors is an odd duck, imagine Bernie Sanders going on about starch & skinny woman. He gave me 2 months of both pills, cost was $170. His sister, the receptionist, was very sweet and a big animal lover. she took my blood pressure and asked some basic health questions.

This is me, 157 as of this morning.

There is mild constipation, not an issue for me since that isn't usually an issue for me. I could see where it might make other that are less regular uncomfortable.

I do wake up between 3-4am every morning, but am not tired.

Yesterday I opened up a chocolate candy bar for my husband and didn't even take a little piece.

Anonymous wrote:Any men that have done this? Is it as effective for them as for women? Thinking of suggesting for a male in his twenties.

I read somewhere that it is most effective on belly fat and I have found that to be true in my case. men carry lots of weight in their stomach so I'd think so. I am a female, most weight in thighs & butt, but I have noticed my stomach and waist are much smaller. Dr. Anchors does have a set of "rules" for men & one for woman, so he must see men.

He said email is a good way to get in touch with him (I haven't tried it though). You could try sending him one to ask if his program would work with Hashimotos.
