But where's your daughter going to learn to thicken her skin if she doesn't get harassed and groped in high school? How will she ever survive adulthood without being traumatized by trash going nowhere in life?

I worked at a popular restaurant/bar in college and I've never been around a bigger group of white trash, half of which came from upper middle class backgrounds. I think the industry—late nights, alcohol, cash tips—attracts a lot of unsavory characters.

My ds works in the service industry and it is absolutely nothing like this. He has a great time and has made good friends there. Other than the manager, they're all high school and college students. Really good kids and it's like a family there. They tend to hire kids who are recommended by the other employees. Nobody wants to recommend someone who would be a bad reflection on them. The pp makes it sound like he must've found the needle in a haystack kind of job. But I doubt it. There are lots of positive non-"shit" jobs out there for those who want to find one.
