He probably wants to keep it because it's his only way out of office. The guy has not seemed at all enthusiastic about the actual job since he got it.

I never thought he would really be able to deal with the constraints of the office. But we'll see.

Dems, led by the Congressional Black Caucus, tried to do the same thing in 2010. Conveniently left out of all media mentions of course.

Twitchy? Is this some kind of a site for meth addicts?

If you actually read the articles linked to by the story, you will see that these are not analogous situations. Nice try, though.

Goodlatte is a hack. He tried his best to block funding for 9/11 responders, is a staunch opponent of treasonable gun restrictions even after a reporter and cameraman were shot on live TV in his district, and opposes fixing the Voting Rights Act.

Probably a mix of both. Thrilled to hear this sham has been put on hold and am calling my representatives to make sure that any future attempt is fought against and HARD. SHAME ON THE GOP! SHAME!

The worst part is that this whole shitstorm started without the knowledge of PEOTUS. Shows weakness on his part.

I lol'd.

This is definitely not the worst we've seen recently. Remember the bill to allow lawsuits against a foreign country? Not only did they pass it but overrode a presidential veto and *THEN* came back to suspend it just prior to it taking effect and blamed Obama for not being vocal enough against it.

This one they at least stopped short of even putting it up for an official vote.

Oh jeez, forgot about that one! Truly, Congress is a clown car. (Bipartisan clown car, in many respects.)

Uh, no.
