A monopoly of power leads to a culture of corruption, and that's exactly what we have.

Gentrification can challenge that monopoly of power.

Or perhaps Republicans can support policies that appeal to and benefit a greater number of voters in DC? Democracy and all that stuff.

PP apparently thinks gentrification = conservative takeover. You do know that it ain't just people of color who are Democrats don't you? Dumb ass.

Yeah okay.
In actuality it just changes the complexion of the crazies in office but you stay convinced otherwise

You apparenty don't understand how multi-party elections work.

Are you Cuban by any chance?

Which corrupt crazies are you referring to? Serious question. Your notions of DC are antiquated and yet we still get stuck with the likes of Allen, Grosso, Cheh and Silverman.

I'm generally familiar with the circumstances of the HillEast case and the federal and local agencies that drooped the ball at every opportunity. It's a well-meaning but bad law being misapplied by overworked federal prosecutors and judges, none of whom are answerable to DC residents. Mendelson isn't interested in holding criminals accountable, McDuffie is in over his head and the rest of the Council are virtually useless. .

Gee, where do we think all these cheap and readily-obtainable guns are coming from? Not our "black Mayor" nor our "black President." We don't expect you to care because you're just another deplorable who is incapable of thinking beyond the color of someone's skin.

Np. The problem is that these thugs know they can get away with it. In dc black youth crime (relatives and friends have been victims) is high and the city does nothing about it. Heck the man in capitol hill who had his head bashed in my thugs cant even talk or feed himself and his head is caved in. The thugs got a lenient sentence in dc. Do their black leaders care or are they more focused on white or cop on black crime?

Post-truth Trumper. I know the victim quite well. You clearly do not and should stop posting information that is demonstrably false. You're victimizing him further. BTW, the assailants received sentences of 24.5, 10 and 4.5 years respectively upon conviction.

DP. Four and a half years certainly seems fair.

STFU. The evidence introduced at trial is what matters.

If you think the system is working, that's fine. Others are allowed to disagree.

Being willfully ignorant and propogating false narratives and information isn't "disagreeing." We get it, you don't like black people --- oops, I meant "thugs." And by the way the putative ringleader was 21, not a juvenile.

Not the PP, but under the law being questions here you are treated as a youth in dc and granted leniency and multiple chances until age 22. We are the only city in the country this extreme. Have you read the post articles? The links are in this thread.

If I'm not mistaken the two oldest attackers being discussed are from PG County. The youngest, who was 18, cooperated with police and prosecutors and testified against the other two. This doesn't bode well in prison, not that I'm particularly sympathetic. Regardless, the police and AUSA considered his account, in which he merely shoved the victim, as credible (as did the jury).

which ne got 4.5 pp? That seems.extraordinarily light. Did he flip or was he under 22?

DP. Four and a half years certainly seems fair.

Do you not realize that there are multiple posters on this thread? Did you miss the DP in front of my first post?

But thanks for calling me racist, even though you know nothing about me. (Some of you guys really need to start rationing your non-stop use of that word!)

NP: don't worry, those folks and that word have lost all credibility by now. Let them vent a bit here on dcum, so that their little brains don't explode in real life.
