Do you support a ban on Muslim refugees? Do you support a ban on legal immigration by Muslims?
As I've said previously, I support a temporary ban on Muslims coming specifically from those countries that are hotbeds of terrorism until we have better vetting abilities in place. (Until then, I support sending humanitarian aid to the refugees in Syria.) So I'm in favor of helping them, but not in favor of the way you want to help them. That doesn't make me anti-Muslim. I'd simply like to lower the risk of terrorists sneaking in and protect American lives. I know you disagree and have stated that you think a "small risk" to American lives is acceptable.
Perhaps when Jeff, and/or his wife and kids are victims of Muslim Terrorism, his tune will change. It is one thing to be compassionate and care about human rights, it is another to be blindly ignorant of the fact that many of the Muslim refugees and Muslims in general hate America and want to destroy us. They even hate liberals and would blow your Muslim loving backside up in a heartbeat if they had the chance.

The Jew-hating Arabs were offered a two-state solution when Israel was formed in 1948, but they refused. They weren't interested in "sharing" because they did not - and still do not! - recognize Israel's right to exist. They have said repeatedly that they want every Jew wiped out of Israel. Israel needs land to protect itself from people sworn to its destruction.
You have to admit that the deck was loaded in favor of Israel in 1948. The western world's guilt -- particularly Britian and the US -- about what they had allowed to happen to the Jews of Europe was politically overwhelming. The British were still in full colonail power mode and described the Palestinians as powerless date and olive growers, i.e., ignorant farmers and the type of people England found easy to colonize for centuries. The Palestinians did not have a chance against Old Blighty.
Now with the on going support of the US, Israel has crushed and oppressed Israel and continues to take Palestinian land at will.
You, PP, saw a ittle narrow minded not to understand the hatred of the Palestinians for Israel. Think of how the Jews felt when Hitler nationalized all of their property.
The Jews were in Israel 3300 years ago, [b]way before Islam was born. The Jews got kicked out, just like they've been persecuted and expelled (and gassed!) for their entire existence. Yet all the sympathy, all the time, goes to the Arabs.

I support a ban on letting terrorists into this country. We already have many of them here, many or most of them Muslim. Our precious American born San Bernadino and Orlando killers/terrorists illustrate that there is something very wrong in the state of Islam. So as Trump says-we need to have a ban UNTIL we can figure out what the hell is going on and vet them properly. If you look at the shithole Europe has become due to unchecked Muslim immigration, and how dangerous it has become-you may be able to understand why Americans DO NOT want the same fate for our country.
Anonymous wrote:jsteele wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:It might be ridiculous but then again, what do you know about being a country that was under Israeli siege for decades.
Um, this is the Olympics where you leave politics at home. If you can't deal, go home.
In history, Lebanese are not the only ones that have been occupied. There are many others at the Olympics. But thank goodness that they don't act this way. Childish.
Thank you. I've been disgusted by how quickly the liberals on this board have turned some nasty behavior by the Lebanese into an indictment against Israel.
The verb you're looking for is 'spew'. Doesn't matter the context - any situation is a pretext to spew.
Yes....I've used "spew" before. Great word - and on target.
And for the liberals who think there is no correlation between being anti-Israel and the rise in antisemtisim (and who are willing to take a look at themselves), the following article, "The New Antisemitism," by Natan Sharansky might be of interest. (And to tie this in with another thread running concurrently, it is not PC to criticize Jews but it is PC to criticize Israel. It's a handy outlet for antisemites to spew their bigotry.)
http://www.jcpa.org/phas/phas-sharansky-f04.htm
Sharansky is a proponent of settlements in the West Bank. As a government minister, he led settlement expansion and the seizure of property from Palestinians. Clearly, someone with such view will not welcome criticism of Israeli.
I'm sorry, I will criticize the construction of Israeli settlements in the occupied territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem. If you consider that to be anti-Semitic, then I am sorry that you have reduced the term to meaninglessness. But, your labels will not stop my criticism.
But we can't delete your posts, now can we?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:jsteele wrote:Anonymous wrote:there is essentially no difference between being anti-Israel and antisemitic.
Wow. I guess someone has realized that it is impossible to defend Israel's actions so it is simply better to declare criticism of Israel to be out of bounds. Are you one of those people who complains about liberals being PC? Do you hate "safe places" on college campuses?
Would you say that criticism of Iran or Saudi Arabia is anti-Islamic?
1) What I hate is the antisemtic BDS movement spreading through college campuses and stirring up violent acts of antisemitism.
2) And criticism of Iran is definitely a criticism of the Islamic culture, yes. Just as criticism of isrsel is anti-Jewish.
And should be, I might add. Iran was a very westernized country - my Baha'i friends left as children with the massive persecution that began to take place. They remain modernized and westernized to this day. Iran has now mostly fallen to Islamic religious control, and Turkey is well on her way. Iran has proven to be anything but broad-minded towards women and LGBT individuals, to liberal pet causes.
Iran may not be culturally broad minded toward women, but they continue to educate women which begun under Shah Reza Pahlavi at the behest of Farah Diba. Many of the professionals, and a majority of the physicians, in Iran are women.

This was an Israeli government sponsored war crime where over 3,000 civilians were slaughtered. Maybe seeing the awful truth would help the OP understand that what happened in 1982 is like 9/11 for the people of Lebanon.
I didn't want to look at that picture every time I read this thread.

I guess Sanders is self-loathing b/c he declined to speak at an AIPAC gathering.
“A Zionist? What does that mean? Want to define what the word is? Do I think Israel has the right to exist? Yeah, I do. Do I believe that the United States should be playing an even-handed role in terms of its dealings with the Palestinian community in Israel? Absolutely I do.
“Again, I think that you have volatile regions in the world, the Middle East is one of them, and the United States has got to work with other countries around the world to fight for Israel's security and existence at the same time as we fight for a Palestinian state where the people in that country can enjoy a decent standard of living, which is certainly not the case right now. My long-term hope is that instead of pouring so much military aid into Israel, into Egypt, we can provide more economic aid to help improve the standard of living of the people in that area.”

In the 2017 budget proposal, the US is giving Israel 3.1 billion in security assistance.

You consistently and constantly provide excuses for terrorists, by divorcing them from their actions, claiming it was mental illness. You went as far as saying Allahu Akbar shouted at a terrorist attack means nothing - it's shouted when finding lost car keys. Excuses and dilution.
No one has to invoke you re: deleting posts. You will often make some declarative statement, then delete all posts that refute it, so your post is the last one on the thread, i.e. the definitive word. Your site, your prerogative, but please don't suggest that's even-handed. In fact, you have repeatedly stated, 'my site, my rules'. You are correct about that. Only you can decide whether or not that will hinder growth. Pendulums swing.
Regarding multiple posts, it's human nature to not sit back and collect all thoughts in a heated discussion, thus multiple posts. I guess you can see that as reason to delete, if you want to feel beat up on, rather than just opinions. I don't know many people in live conversation that sit back, collect all their thoughts, THEN speak. Must bring up multiple points, and not all in one breath.
