I would never spend $25 (minimum) on my kid's classmate's birthday. So I'd be a bit flummoxed on the gift thing and probably bring a Disney - themed book or something.

I don't get all the drama. I have a special needs child and we are grateful when he gets an invite to a birthday party. We would happily get the gift card, and wish the family a wonderful trip.

But you pointed out why you do not get it. You really want ypur son to be invited so basically you are willing to pay for him to go. A lot of families cannot afford to but extravagant gifts, especially if thier kid goes to lots of parties. The Disney cards start at $25. So asking for that on the invite is essentially asking people to pay an entrance fee.

It would be completely different if when asked, the parent replied that thier child would love a Disney card.

Looks like they start at $25. So, I would not be doing that.

You were an ass (and a cheapskate!) the first time you posted it, and you still are! But go ahead and expose the truth about yourself!
