What do you think Georgetown is?

she said white ethnic, not white.

I am assuming Shea meant Italian American, Greek American, Polish American, etc

We're not letting the door hit us when we retire. It helps that almost anywhere in the U.S. is less expensive than DC especially if you avoid NYC and the SF Bay Area.

We're thinking Portland OR, Seattle WA or Boulder CO, where the cost of living isn't exactly low, but it's still cheaper than DC.

I have friends who moved to Charlotte and love it. We live in Frederick, MD and love it, but neither of us commute anywhere because DH works for himself and I am SAH.

Oh, what you could get for $500,000 in Butler county Ohio...but, do I really want to live there? No, not anymore. We sucked it up and bought a place in Reston. Love, love, love Reston. There are financing options out there and you can still find good value if you look.

Median income is Fairfax is about double that of Butler County, Ohio.

Not the PP but a place that has a median income 1/2 that of DC but housing costs less than 1/3 seems like a good deal to me..

I am from Iowa. People who grew up on the east coast have a dim view of the Midwest. Then they visit, and tell me how much they love it. Madison, WI and Minneapolis, MN are so nice. So is Milwaukee. Omaha. Des Moines. I can hear the snorts all over the DMV now. All good places to live. Closer, Charlottesville is a good choice if you need a break.

That's exactly like the Deep South. Schools are segregated.

We're not segregated at our school. Just very international. Good try, though.

Dear lord, no, unless you're lily white and your family comes from there. Deep deep south.
