Russia has a ton of great art at the Hermitage in St. Petersburg. And DH says the gems in the imperial treasury in Moscow makes the crown jewels in London look like cheap crap. So I def. want to go there sometime. DH's family is from a small island in Denmark, so a northern European cruise that maybe starts from Copenhagen and includes St. Petersburg is the only traditonal cruise we are interested in.

Russia (hostile govt) even though I'd love to see the palace architecture.
India (poverty, hygiene, smell, disease). I always wanted to go to see the architecture and eat my favorite cuisine and see all those beautiful textiles, but everyone I've met in the last 10 years who's been (and I'm talking very worldly, extremely experienced travelers who work for State, in the IC, and so on) say it was the pits of hell and they all were sick for weeks and hated it completely. I don't know. They scared me off pretty well, but I'll probably still go someday if I can afford a good tour and hopefully avoid dysentery or whatever it is everyone gets there. After a weeklong battle with girardia after a trip to Mexico, I can do without any more disgusting intestinal issues.

Haha! This one made me laugh. My husband had to go to Turkmenistan on an open ended business trip. Said it was literally the worst place on earth.

most of the middle east (violence, attitude towards women, no religious freedom and very limited freedom of speech)
the rainforests (snakes and bugs bigger than me freaks me out)
Mount Everest (too high and too much work to get to the top)
That building in Chicago with the glass floor.
