Here's the thing: she's a mess. W people like her you always have to be prepared with simple one liners because she will continue to be inappropriate. Don't let there be a next time without you schooling her.

Is your MIL a foreigner? She might be trying to steal your ID to have a fake passport made for a relative.

Or, if she's a citizen, she also might be trying to steal your ID or maybe money or maybe she's a klepto. It sounds like your husband is a weenie and a chicken. Don't overlook this. Do you have kids? She is going to ruin your life.
