Because by 30-35 they want to have children so if you want a partner you have to pick someone. Might not be the prettiest flower or best one in the garden. Women have a finite time to have kids. I think they figure if it doesn't work out they can divorce but they'll always have their kids.

From what I've seen of many divorces I think more women would be wiser to pick the random guy out of the bar, and go it alone. No fights over custody, ex inlaws you don't want around your kids, a new gf watching your child.

Girls are still taught at an early age to idealize marriage. "someday your prince will come".

It is interesting that when men do not marry, they are said to have commitment problems. It seems when women do not marry it's an ego thing. I have many single women friends(typical DC) in their late 30's early 40's who just feel they have to date/marry up, but there are not many men who meet their standard of equal or above. Pp here. Actually I think I had the opposite problem throughout my dating life. I overlooked faults or incompatibilities, tried to make things work, and this wasted time working on relationships that never should have gone past three to six months. I wasn't picky enough before agreeing to monogamy and that led to wasted time.

All the guys who wanted to marry me were accomplished, smart, etc. Our personalities just weren't the right fit. One wanted differme things from a woman but wanted to be married so badly he overlooked that I wasn't what he was looking for. Another did not treat me well (I've posted about him before and people unanimously told me to move on). Etc etc. they were all great on paper, though.

Definitely. It happens way more common than the other way, in my personal experience!
