I know. Had a son on a college team with a few from a few IAC schools.

Childish sport, childish kids, childish adults.

Sportsmanship should come first. Compete hard, compete well and respect others who also compete. Lacrosse is the lowest common denominator of youth sports. That's a shame because it is an exciting sport.

I had the chance to see part of the Salisbury v. Ohio Weslyan game which was at Landon last Sunday. It was an amazingly fast game. And, it was nice to see kids from the various IAC schools milling about, plus Gonzaga and others. It's fun to think about how these same students from rival IAC schools (and Gonzaga!) often end up being teammates in college.

That was last year.

He played for the Heights last year, Landon this year.

Watched the Maryland - Yale game on the Ivy League Digital network and it was fun seeing some IAC alums playing on MD (from SSSAS) and Yale (from STA). Bullis's Bellistri is lighting it up for a pretty good Brown squad, as well. Also got a chance to see Navy - Hopkins in person and see Landon's Pat Keena tear it up for Navy. I believe Keena has also been selected for Special Warfare which I think means he will have the chance to try to become a Navy SEAL. One of the Princeton captains is an Episcopal grad, deButts -- great short stick middy. Johns Hopkins has 4-5 IAC alums on its team including Nick Fields from Bullis, a great close defenseman.

The pool of good high school lacrosse players is much broader than back in the days of IAC/MIAA (Near) Total Domination but the IAC still sends a lot of kids on to play at great schools (for lacrosse and academics).

My son declined to go to STA - are they considered big 3 - for another school that has a stronger athletic reputation and a much better lacrosse program.He is now at an Ivy League School. Your kidding yourself if you think Sidwell, Maret and STA are the only schools in the area that offer top flight academics.


Gonzaga?

We went with Landon. Gonzaga is a great option too.

With club blue about flop and Bethesda still being run by a bunch of a Dad's, NL is emerging as a valid option for Montgomery County and NW DC kids.

My son went to Next Level in the fall. Previously with Bethesda. Good experience so far. Great to have the indoor facility. High school level coaching, no dads. Good mix of kids from al sorts of schools. Landon definitely a presence, but only about 25% of the kids. Equal numbEr of MCPS kids too.
