We definitely shouldn't mix business with education. We have a fine system of quasi-government run schools doing a spectacular job of preparing all students to be competitive in the world.

Basis doesn't seem to have a problem taking money from the government to start their charter schools. Regardless, public schools can't pick and choose who they educate, so this isn't even something that you need to bring up for comparison.

Wow...sounds like a big demand! Better build more of those "independent" schools!

They're providing a service for those who want what they offer. It's called the free market.

Basis isn't nonprofit. It's forprofit.

Real educators don't compete. Nonprofit schools have no reason to. We want what is best for education. We want what is best for our students.

Then why do people jump in with opinions on any other school here? I can think of another a school or three that this school basically would compete with where commenters k ow little about yet post negative statements even though they have never visited the school. It is the nature of DCUM to be snarky and rude, sadly.

What reputation? The school hasn't opened yet. A school is more than a name, a curriculum, and a lists of stats. A school is a community that needs to be nurtured. People have a right to information, not just advertisement. It's up to you to form your own opinions about what you read.
