All the latest posters are just awful. They don't know what they're talking about and are just being mean and vicious. The two kids probably had schedule conflicts that precluded PE in Chinese. It happens.
For what it's worth, the kids from YY who were in the alternative track continue in Chinese at a lower level (There are 4 levels of each of the three target languages, including a beginning track for lottery students who are new to the language and students still struggling to master basics).
Really wonder why people attack YY and DCI for sped and language services when, in fact, they have been cited by OSSE for superior sped/504 services.
Don't be crabs in a bucket!

Except that it isn't a self-contained special ed classroom. Nice try though. There may be some overlap with kids who have IEPs, but it isn't a catch-all. FWIW, my son receives special ed services and isn't in the non-immersion classroom so I know what I am talking about.

2) My DC got some levels moved because the teacher recommendations did not match his performance on the assessments and in class. I was told that they gave all the kids assessments in math and moved them up if they scored above a certain level.

Well, my 6th grader gets PE in English. On further inquiry, it appears there are only 2 Yu Ying kids in that PE class. Weird!

Perhaps they were in the non-immersion academic track while attending Yy.

Bingo!

Wrong! DC was in full immersion.

And should have added, the other YY kid was too.

Shhhh! Yu Ying doesn't like to discuss it's non-immersion track.

What? Is this at other DL charters too or just Yu Ying? I had no idea.

Which language classes do the YY non-immersion students take at DCI in 6th, 7th and 8th?

Either Spanish or French obviously.

It is a PE class, for goodness sakes.
