no resentment or care here. just think it's curious that a neighborhood blogger who's built his reputation on urban community issues would do such a lousy thing to a Petworth neighborhood school. I don't live in Petworth or N. Cleveland Park and don't really care who chooses to live or not live in either of these places.

I agree. He doesn't want to dump on Petworth as being unsafe, at least not by explicitly stating so. But he has no problem dumping on Bruce Monroe, a school which he's never had a child enrolled and he likely knows little to nothing about the school as a parent of an enrolled student. That rubs me the wrong way. He could have left the school question open the same way he did on neighborhood safety.

Secondly, DS runs a blog that talks about neighborhoods across DC, from Anacostia to Upper NW.

Thirdly he did not dump on Bruce Monroe, he chose to send his CHILDREN to a school where he (and his wife, who for some reason people are ignoring - perhaps she did not like Bruce Monroe?) thought they would do well. No one is obligated to use their children to communicate something. No one.

if one moves FOR schools, it's obvious that one prefers the new school options to the ones left behind. No one's obligated to justify it, but when you publicly state that you're moving for schools than it's more than implied. And let's be honest -- this is a TWO year old not even old enough for PS and we're not talking about Deal for what, like another 9 or 10 years?

No one has to justify the move. There are a many reasons beyond schools to live in Upper NW and not all of the school options are slam dunk either. I can think of plenty of EOTP school on par or better than Hearst albeit without the Deal feeder.

^^ That is the truth. Unbelievable. I had heard he deletes/moderates comments that don't agree with him, but this is the first time i witnessed it firsthand. I saw many comments deleted that were not rude at all, just honest. I actually unsubscribed from his blog and unfollowed all his social media accounts after this morning. I have no respect for his brand of censorship. Makes me regret having read and supported his blog for the last however many years. He's such a disappointment.

I know it's a meaningless gesture that's not going to affect him or his blog at all, but I've done the same. It just feels kind of fake / lame.
