This page suggests 2nd grade at Mt. Daniel through 2023-24 school year (purple shading)... data was last updated 1 year ago.

I would like this to be correct but I don’t think that it is. Can you provide a source? I thought that the scaled back design meant that it won’t be enough to handle 2nd grade. Please prove me wrong!!

Yes, 2nd grade will be at Mt. Daniel until the total enrollment exceeds 660 students. The thinking is that putting 2nd grade at Mt. Daniel in the short-term gives the School Board more time to come up with a solution to the overcrowding at TJ. If enrollment doesn't grow as quickly, 2nd grade will be able to stay at Mt. Daniel longer.

Bumping this post. We are moving to Falls Church and I have a kindergartener who will be attending Mt. Daniel. I saw that demo is underway. Anyone know what the timeline is for completion?

I've tried searching to no avail... thanks in advance!

Look here for info relating to FCCPS application to almost double the school size.

Going nowhere fast. FCCPS got way ahead of itself in assuming county approval of a major expansion of Mt. Daniel that would greatly expand the school's footprint.

Have you met the Falls Church News Press?

Good comments though, from both sides.

+1. The FCNP is very biased. They knew about this issue long before they ran the article. This is not a new issue, even though it was presented like it came out of the blue. Comments are good, though.

yes- Nick Benton clearly has zero understanding of the concept of 'objective journalism.' His view of journalism is to quickly pick a side on just about anything, and then 'report' in the most slanted way possible. He appears to have gotten crazier and crazier over the years--- I can remember when he first started the paper some 25 years ago and it was a valuable source of local news- nothing like the random rants it has devolved into today.

You crossed a line here. No need to attack an individual.

...but it's true
