I expected Sansa's rape, and (hearing about) the uproar over it surprised me. But Stannis burning his daughter definitely, definitely bothered me a LOT. Not sure if it was the intent of the show's writers/creators, but Stannis and his wife are now irredeemable characters for me.
Agree. Horrific. They should be torn apart in four directions by northern wolves.
Anonymous wrote:The heroes of the book are: Bran, Jon Snow, Dany and Tyrion. So they will all come together in the end. Bran running the world from his tree, Dany on the throne, Tyrion her advisor, and Jon Snow reborn as a noble, or an animal. Sansa Stark back married to Tyrion. Jon Snow dies in the book?

What the Lord of Light asked if Stannis is not that different from what God asked of Abraham.
First of all, what God asked of Abraham was a means test of his faith. Not a literal homicide of his child. And do you really think the Lord of Light did the asking? Seemed to me it was Melisandre giving the orders.
Also, Stannis is doing all this for power and glory. Presumably Abraham had humbler motives? Ahhh, the theology of GoT…

yes, but God didn't make him go through with it.

Upon hearing her daughter's cries, his wife tried to stop it but was held back
Too little, too late. Is that how hard you'd fight to keep someone from burning your child alive?
No need to get personal. Is it possible for DCUM to have one forum without engaging in all the nastiness?

No I read that the Targaeryans are immune. I think it is safe to assume that Jon and Dany make it to the end of the story. Either of them dying is the only thing that would shock me.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Can anyone explain why Jon Snow's sword destroyed the White Walker? I thought only 'dragon glass' killed white walkers?
His sword is Valyrian Steel. There are only a few Valyrian steel swords left in the world, since none have been made since the Doom of Valyria (and nobody knows how to make it anymore.) It's harder and sharper than normal steel and is rumored to have been forged with magic spells. I don't think anyone knew that Valyrian Steel could kill a white walker until Jon actually did it. Valyrian steel did not exist 8000 years ago, the last time the White Walkers showed up in Westeros. The White Walker was pretty surprised when the sword didn't shatter.
So White Walker weapons out there right now:
Jon Snow - longclaw
Brienne of Tarth - Oathkeeper
Tonmen - Widow's Wail
Peter the Pimp - dagger
