If the baker is a true business expecting to be paid she should have been more up front. peopke keep commenting about the cheap price. Likely bc she isn't paying the legitimate overhead that a real bakery warrants. Or taxes.
Op went above and beyond here.
Not necessarily.

You had no idea this was a business - the baker is at fault too. I think ppl are being way too hard on OP. OP graciously admitted she was wrong without being defensive and paid. I think she's a class act.
The baker is not "at fault", because she never asked for payment. OP found out she ran a business, and paid accordingly because that's the right thing to do. Don't see how the baker did anything wrong at all.

Anonymous wrote:$1 a pop? I'd love to know the baker mom's FB page!
Anonymous wrote:OP here. Her prices are kind of high (dollar a pop!) would you pay her "list" prices or just offer her a set amount of money?
Anonymous wrote:OP here. I think I should be ok. I messaged her that I pay paled her the payment and I really appreciated her hard work and she said... "thank you so much, look forward to future parties." So i don't think she will be insulted I paid her. Looking back it was silly for me to think otherwise.
Good advice here.Anonymous wrote:When I got married, a friend starting a flower business offered to do the flowers and I thought we agreed on the price in advance but kept asking for it in writing. All sorts of things happened, and it became clear she wasn't thinking through the business side of her skill. If the cake pop person is a close enough acquaintance I'd consider telling her that it wasn't clear whether she was doing this as an opportunity to advertise / drum up business or as a paid gig. It could help her run her business even better in the future. That said, glad you paid her OP!!
