About 9 years ago I got one of those camera speeding tickets in DC-I went a tad above the 25 mile speed limit (which I was unaware of having recently moved to the area).

I went to court to fight the ticket. The case was heard by a an arbitrator (who happened to be a black female). I was in a room with about 25-30 black people who were there also fighting their various traffic tickets. They were a variety of ages ranging from teens to elderly, men and women, well dressed to looking like bums. I came dressednicely for court and with my infant in a Bjorn.

The arbitrator called everyone else first (not sure if this was random, purposeful or whatever, but if it were alphabetical, I would not have been last. I also arrived early for said court date so it was not because I was late).

The arbitrator DISMISSED each and every person's ticket who was there. One woman even had a double red light violation (coming and going on the same day). I was the only person whose ticket/case was NOT dismissed. (many other speeders who were going MUCH faster were dismissed).

This was clearly a case of rasism on the part of the arbitrator. I was furious. While I paid the ticket, I did call the supervisor over there and informed them of what had occurred. I only hope some action was taken to correct this arbitrator's behavior and blatant racism and abuse of her power.

Forgot to mention, I was the only white person in the courtroom, aside from my 7 month old infant.

Of course racism goes both ways OP, but your example is comical. Come up with something that better resembles what the other side experiences.

An example of what the other side experiences would be the identical story but switch the races of all the people in the scenario!

Careful OP, you are profiling.

Not really-unfortunately I have been reading crap on this site for far too long-no need to profile.

Except for speeding of course.

Nope, not OP. But, I am a previous poster. Just returned to the site (after an evening at church wrapping presents other congregants and I purchased for less fortunate families). Bunch of hateful people here.
I am the previous poster that asked this question that nobody chose to answer....

If all the other people in the courtroom had received a ticket, why did NOT ONE of them have to pay, yet the OP did? Should they have had to pay a fine as well?

What does this have to do with anything OP?

Because she lives in reality-not some goddamn bubble in upper NW toting a Kate Spade bag and sporting too tight yoga pants while spoting off BS based on nothing but lofty ideas!

You're not helping your case OP.

Go do some volunteer work at the shelter where Relisha Rudd went missing from-it may do you some good. Bring some presents for the kids-the shelter is open Christmas day!

See, no one really believes this part of the story. No way OP knows the back story of every single person in that courtroom. And heard every single outcome. No way.

Nope - no speeding.
