Wow, she's 17 not 12. When I was 17 I travelled around Europe for a MONTH with my boyfriend, WITHOUT his parents. (Just the two of us).

D will probably be fine. Just don't give her too much grief if she does have responsible. And, talk to her about what to do if she does not want to have sex and there is pressure or anything unwanted happens. (who to contact, calling her Dad, talking to DH about what to do if he gets a call, etc...)

Like another PP said, my best friend in high school was given all sorts of grief by her parents over having responsible sex with the really nice computer-geek guy she met in COLLEGE. They broke up because he could tell they didn't like him, and she's been with loser after loser ever since.

Different poster here. The OP had stated that she would be away on a business trip and her husband would be away on a golf trip and her other daughter would be in camp, so she would not want her 17 year-old daughter to be at home alone.

Later she stated that her daughter wouldn't actually be alone at home because the OP's sister would be there, too... So it did seem kind of flaky.

This wouldn't happen in my house. But if my DH had agreed to it (which would happen when only hell freezes over), I wouldn't renege on his agreement.
