This thread, which was resurrected from what? 2014? just made me want to throw up a little.

We have a 3000 sq ft house--only that size because the basement and attic are both finished--and a housekeeper and helper who come in every other week for 3 hours and charge $120. Our nanny does some tidying as well.

can't say I have friends who fit in this category, as my friends are not tightly wound.

Everything has a place in our home. We have no clutter and lots of organization. The only room that gets messy is the playroom and that is rare. Every toy has a place. I love having a label maker and pottery barn storage is the best. Even are cars are kept perfect. I go to the carwash every other day. I get compliments on how clean my car is in the school pickup line.

Obviously, each to their own, etc. But this sounds mad. The car wash every other day? Do you work? How do you fit that into your day?

How is the car get dirty inside in 2 days???

I clean my own 4000 sf house. It isnt that hard and I don't know how long it would take to clean the whole thing, because that isn't how you keep a bigger house clean. I just clean probably half an hour a day, consistently, or whenever I have a block of time for bigger things like dusting. I recommend getting into audiobooks--I can "read" and get my house clean/stay moving at the same time.

I don't do much in the way of sitting around relaxing. Some people need that time to be happy (my DH does). I am more of a putterer. I get enough sitting during work. I do sit and read for half an hour or so before bed.

7,000 sq feet & love to clean! Highly educated & do not work outside my home. I care for our children & my husband. Trying to role model traditional values. I do the math with our children several times a year. They help keep things tidy & we save a minimum of $200 a week. That is $10,000 annual w/o maid...better known as the Spring Break vacation budget. Now, everyone is happy to help out!

The guest house is for business purposes.

Is your guest house always occupied? Otherwise, your housekeeper is taking too long cleaning an empty house.

We use it for putting-up clients pretty often, at least a couple days a week, a couple weeks per month. I'm not sure I'd call that "regular" use, but it's a fair amount. Plus, some of them are entertainers, and some of them travel with children, and each of those can provide their own unique challenges in keeping a house clean.
