Aaaahhhh. That was excruciating. I had to stop watching and never did see the rest of the film. I'm still awed by the depth of feeling and devotion of those damned penguin parents.

Saddest movie I ever saw was Grave of the Fireflies. It's an animated movie about an orphaned young boy and his toddler sister trying to survive in WW2 Japan. Roger Ebert's review the film (4 out of 4 stars) - http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/great-movie-grave-of-the-fireflies-1988. My 2nd place would go to Hachi: A Dog's Tale
