AW is just arrogance personified. She has issues with just about any criticism of her performance. Such a poor representative for the US

interesting. I don't think it's all about not falling, though. I think there is a lot of other things they weigh, some of which are subjective.

In any case, it does seem a little lame that AW was blasting the judging so shortly after the event was over. She knows it is not a sport that is measured by a completely objective measure, like the speed with which one crosses a finish line.

AW got ripped off last night. I can't believe Yulia, the 15 year old Russian, that fell twice outscored AW. Ashley was powerful, graceful and only bobbled one teensy bit on a landing. Otherwise she was flawless last night.
Glad the Italian girl got bronze, she deserved it.

Never really heard of her until the Olympics but she is a total turn-off.

Yeah. She should me on the mens' speed skating team. It's sad to see these athletes giving our country a bad name.

Call me old-fashioned but I believe that sportsmanship and being gracious when things don't go one's way are important.

Wagner lacks both these elements. First, there were those pictures of her looking disgusted at her score in a prior event at Sochi and then her complaints about not having ranked higher than the Russian skater yesterday. A total turn-off to most people.

She comes across as someone who has a sense of entitlement.

Judging at these events has a subjective element that can not be eliminated. This will cause people to disagree with the judges. I personally liked the
South Korean skater more than the Russian who won the gold medal but the reality is that the latter's performance was more technically challenging and the scoring system gave her more points for that component.

I didn't think the Russian's routine was particularly appealing though. It seemed disjointed to me. The music and the moves just didn't seem to go together. I do understand that she did a technically more rigorous routine, although to MOST eyes, definitely not visually more appealing.

I'm not new to watching or anything - I have watched the sport for 30+ years now. I think the new scoring system has taken some of the beauty and artistry away and just forced skaters to string together as many high-scoring moves as they can to rack up points - visual appeal be damned.

She nailed it last night - personally I am happy for her. These skaters, especially the older ones, bust their asses for years to get where they are - it's so demanding and takes much more talent and intelligence than most "sports."

She was the one who gave the US the 3 spots with her placement at Worlds. While I agree her selection to the team is controversial, to say she sucks is ridiculous and not backed up by facts.

She fell twice at the National Championships. She doens't have it right now and shouldn't be in Sochi.

By this reasoning, no one should be in Sochi except for Meryl and Charlie, but, you all think they are ugly....so, I guess just do away with the sport.

She placed 4th at Nationals. She doesn't belong at the Olympics. The other people won their spots.

The guy who won the gold medal in slopestye skiing was placed on the team despite having a higher ranked US teammate...make sure to tweet him that he's an undeserving asshole too.

I understand you feel that the placement at Nationals should determine the Olympic team. Please understand that this is not what the USFSA regulations dictate. Only the National champion is assured of the slot on the Olympic team. Everyone else is up to the USFSA discretion. They had discretion and they exercised it.

look, she won her spot through her career work. You don't agree with it. This is how things work in ice skating. Polina could just as easily lost her spot to Marai because she had ZERO international experience.

Give it a break. If you don't like how she got there, complain to the US Figure Skating Gods.
